Last Tuesday night Tyler Bezold was honored before the Indians’ game against 35th District rival Covington Catholic with a commemorative basketball celebrating his 1,000th career point scored against Holmes.
Celebrating the milestone with his father, who is also a member of Holy Cross’ 1,000-point club, was a particularly memorable moment for the senior forward.
“He told me he was proud of me,” Bezold said. “It was awesome just hearing those words from him, because I’ve been working with him my whole life. Every time I ask if we can go shoot, he always says absolutely, any time – it’s been awesome.”
In addition to those countless shooting sessions with his dad, Bezold credits all of his father’s former players for turning him into the player he is today. And that list goes as far back as 1997 graduate and NCAA all-time career and season consecutive free throw record-holder, Paul Cluxton, who still calls Tyler occasionally.
